D.J. glanced up. Josie sat on top of the fence separating the playland from the rest of the world. D.J. looked around. No one stood near enough, this time, to hear her talking to herself. |

"I don't suppose you have any answers?" she asked the angel. |
"I'm afraid not. I wish I did. But I'll see what I can discover. That young man is not cooperating with any of my plans." |
"Which reminds me: When I lock a door I mean for the door to stay locked. Don't ever open one on me again." |
Josie waved away D.J.'s protest. "I know what I'm doing, dear. Just relax and let me handle everything." |
"No. You stay out of my work. That's what I'm doing here: work. I'm protecting McCall. I don't need to sleep with him and screw up my mind." |
"The way things are progressing, you don't have much chance of sleeping with him. Christian's being very stubborn. A beautiful young girl like you, alone with him in a hotel room." She shook her head and made a "tsking" sound. "I just don't understand him at all." |
"There must be something in his past we don't know about. Raphael told me Christian wasn't my problem, but he's being so difficult." The angel looked up at the sky, tilted her head in thought, and then returned her gaze to D.J. "You'll be all right for a while, won't you, dear? I'm just going to take a little trip." She pointed upward with one finger. |
